Jau spalio 1 dieną (šeštadienį) Beatričės Kleizaitės-Vasaris menų galerijoje muzikos klausytojai turės progą išgirsti Vakarų Europoje pripažinto išilginių fleitų virtuozo Chriso Ortono (Didžioji Britanija) parengtą programą „Gesti e Sonate: itališka muzika išilginei fleitai“ (vargonėliais akomponuoja Dovilė Savickaitė (Lietuva). Ji mus nukels į įvairiaspalvių garsų kelionę, besidriekiančią per XIV a. šokių pasaulį, stabtels ties XVII a. Venecijos didybe, išreikšta virtuoziškomis Baroko spalvomis, o paskutinėje kelionės stotelėje pakvies pažinti ir XX – XXI amžių eksperimentinės muzikos pasaulį. Programoje atrinkti kūriniai ne tik demonstruoja repertuaro, bet ir plačią išilginių fleitų ir muzikos atlikimo įvairovę.

Chris Orton is a well-known recorder player, teacher, orchestral conductor, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics practitioner. He studied with Ross Winters and Annabel Knight at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, further private lessons with Anneke Boeke in Amsterdam, orchestral conducting with Jordi Mora at ESMUC in Barcelona, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics with Bethan Habron James in Manchester.
In his early career, Chris won 1st Prize at the 2007 Moeck/SRP International Solo Recorder Competition, to date the only British winner since it became international in 1995. He was awarded the 2nd Prize at the Penderecki Competition of Contemporary Music in 2006, Krakow, and a BBC Fame Academy Bursary for 20,000GBP in 2007, as well as the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians upon graduation.
Chris has performed throughout Europe and also in Singapore, giving solo recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, and Gaudeamus Festival Amsterdam, and performed live on BBC Radio 3 and BBC TV. In June 2022 he recorded and performed the recorder works of Soeren Sieg with the composer at the piano in Warsaw, and previously he has recorded for the NAXOS label.
His teaching commitments include principal recorder tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music Senior and Junior departments, Chetham’s School of Music, visiting tutor at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and young children at L’Escola de Musica Joan Llongueres in Barcelona. He is also conductor of the Junior RNCM Chamber Orchestra and teaches at various summer schools and courses throughout the UK and abroad. In December 2022 he will be a jury member and workshop leader at the TARF Israel International Recorder Festival.
